Birgit Leichsenring follows this motto. “I studied microbiology with a focus on virology at the University of Vienna, where I worked on optimising retroviral vectors for use in gene therapy. In the process, I discovered on the one hand my scientific soft spot for retroviruses and thus for HIV, but on the other hand I also enjoyed a rather relaxed style of communication. In the communication of biomedical content, I therefore see the opportunity to actively shape individual attitudes and thus ultimately also social trends.”
Together with her colleague Dr. Michael Meilinger, HIV practitioner and staff member at the Chemsex Network Vienna, Birgit Leichsenring will answer questions on HIV, chemsex, prep and sexually transmitted infections in a live talk on 31 August as part of Pride Week Salzburg – in a relaxed atmosphere at the Dark Eagle.
