The first comprehensive exhibition in German-speaking countries with works by the British artist Rose English
The Museum der Moderne Salzburg is showing the first comprehensive exhibition in the German-speaking world of works by British artist Rose English (*1950). The exhibition provides a thematic insight into the performative work that English has developed over the last 40 years. Three of her internationally presented major theatre productions, including “Walks on Water” (1988) and “The Double Wedding” (1991), will be shown to the public for the first time in the form of a new site-specific installation. In her interdisciplinary work, she combines elements of theatre, circus and opera to explore the themes of gender politics, the identity of performers and the metaphysics of presence. Performances are planned as part of the exhibition.
A commissioned performance programme accompanies the exhibition with performances by younger international artists whose work is related to English’s artistic practice.
