Opera, drama, concert: the Salzburg Festival 2023 will once again be a magnet for the global cultural scene
The Salzburg Festival presents a varied programme of 179 performances at 15 venues over 43 days. The opera highlights include Mozart’s “Le Nozze di Figaro” and Verdi’s “Macbeth” and “Falstaff“. In addition to “Jedermann” with a new cast of both Jedermann and Buhlschaft, the drama section presents Lessing’s “Nathan der Weise” and the world premiere of Michael Haneke’s “Liebe (Amour)” at the Landestheater. The classical concert series will be performed by the usual top-class orchestras and soloists. The Vienna Philharmonic, the Mozarteum Orchestra, the Camerata Salzburg, Christian Thielemann, Igor Levit, Riccardo Muti and Franz Welser-Möst are among the royalty on the top-class programme.
