Long Night of Diversity 2022

The queer scene is colourful and diverse. To celebrate this attitude to life, the Long Night of Diversity in Salzburg on 14 May this year is the starting signal for the Austrian Pride season 2022.

The society we live in is as diverse as the colours of the rainbow. And the queer scene is just as diverse. Everyone benefits from this diversity, because it makes different lifestyles and preferences visible and broadens the horizons of each individual. Making this diversity visible and tangible is the aim of the Long Night of Diversity in Salzburg.

Gigi Lapajette as initiator and her team of currently six people organise this special charity event on 14 May after a two-year break from Corona. Moving the Long Night of Diversity from autumn to spring had been planned for a long time. As a result, the 2022 Austrian Pride season will begin in Salzburg with the Long Night of Diversity on 14 May and end in Salzburg with the Pride from 2 to 4 September.

Who moans best?

On 14 May, the long night starts with a diverse programme. At 5.30 pm with the opening in the HOSI Bar and from 7 pm in the participating scene shops. Drag queens from Vienna, known from the Lipstick Ball Vienna, will present themselves on their tour through the scene venues that evening. At the porn karaoke, hosted by Gigi, the audience will decide who moaned best and wins the prize. Handbag and dildo throwing are on the programme, as is the brand new discipline of twerking. Walking acts will move from pub to pub selling raffle tickets.

The Long Night of Diversity 2022 will take place at the HOSI Bar, the Dark Eagle, the Mexxx and the Fungo Bar. The team is still in talks with two more locations. All participating shops are within walking distance in the Andräviertel, so it’s easy to move from door to door and experience and celebrate queer diversity at different venues.

The combined ticket, which includes admission to all participating shops, costs 22 euros. Individual admission costs 6 or 8 euros. There will be a welcome shot everywhere. 100% of the proceeds will go to the HOSI Salzburg. The HOSI festivals, which were an important source of income for the HOSI before Corona, have almost all been cancelled for two years. The HOSI festival on 5 March also had to be cancelled. So the opportunity to support the HOSI Salzburg, which does valuable work for emancipation and appreciation of the rainbow community in the city of Salzburg, fits well.

And so life after Corona in Salzburg starts with a spring and summer full of LGBT scene events: from 21 to 23 April vernissage, queer party and crime dinner. On 14 May the Long Night of Diversity 2022. On 4 June the HOSI Festival and from 2 to 4 September the Salzburg Pride. And who knows? Maybe the Pride Boat will also experience a revival this year.

An update on the Long Night of Diversity with many new programme highlights appeared today, 10.05.2022.

That was the Salzburg Pride 2021

Last weekend (3-5.09.) Salzburg was under the sign of the rainbow. From Friday evening to Sunday afternoon, more people than ever came together to underline the demands of the LGBT community for acceptance in all areas of society. And to celebrate this political statement. Love was in the Air! [Read more]

Queer, proud and visible!

The motto of this year's Christopher Street Day (Pride) in Salzburg is: "Be visible Schatzi". In 2021, the visibility of the rainbow was the most important motivation for many participants to take part in the largest pride parade Salzburg has ever seen. The organisers are taking this into account with this year's motto. [Read more]
