Salzburg is becoming more colourful! As of today, 22.09.2021, the zebra crossing in front of Mirabell Palace shines in the colours of the rainbow.

Salzburg is colourful!

On the initiative of the two city councillors Martina Berthold (Greens) and Anja Hagenauer (SPÖ), the city of Salzburg has coloured the zebra crossing in front of Mirabell Palace in rainbow colours.

As a reminder: In the run-up to this year’s Salzburg Pride, rainbow flags that the city had hoisted in front of the castle were stolen. The zebra crossing action can be understood as a prompt response to the unfortunately recurring homophobic vandalism in Austria. After all, this zebra crossing is one of the most used pedestrian crossings in Salzburg.

With this, the Human Rights City of Salzburg sets another sign for acceptance of all colours of sexual identities gathered in the rainbow. At the Pride, the state bridge over the Salzach was also flagged in rainbow colours. And in the future, all pedestrians at Mirabell Palace will be able to see the presence of the rainbow community in Salzburg. Do not give up!
