The streets of Salzburg become colourful!
With the fourth rainbow zebra crossing, the city of Salzburg sets an example for living diversity. The streets of Salzburg become colourful!
The rainbow zebra crossing is the result of a cooperation between the city administration under the supervision of Anna Schiester, city councillor for construction, and Hosi Salzburg. The zebra crossing was completed with the help of pupils from the 1A class of the Mirabell Campus and children from the IGLU youth centre. Together they painted the last strips of the pedestrian crossing with rainbow colours, bringing more colour into the city.
Rainbow City Salzburg
The inauguration of this rainbow protection path is a step forward in making Salzburg a more cosmopolitan and inclusive city. City councillor Anna Schiester: “A zebra crossing like this is part of the visibility that shows that we support the diversity of our society and reflect it through the cityscape.” By actively taking such measures, the municipality sends a clear message to its residents as well as to all visitors – Salzburg stands for diversity and respect.
Together for acceptance and solidarity
It was important to Conny Felice, the managing director of HOSI Salzburg, that local organisations and institutions, such as the Campus Mirabell, can actively support the creation of this rainbow zebra crossing. Thus, it is a symbol of acceptance & solidarity not only for HOSI Salzburg but for everyone in the Andräviertel. (fn)
