„Let’s get Loud“ – Salzburg Pride

On the 1st weekend of September (4 to 6.09.) the Salzburg scene celebrates the Salzburg Pride under the motto “Let’s get Loud“. A special date in several respects. For example, the organizing HOSI Salzburg is 40 years old this year and is coming up with a premiere for its birthday. Due to Corona, almost all CSDs were cancelled this year. Also the Salzburg CSD was originally planned for the beginning of June and could be moved to this first September weekend thanks to the voluntary commitment of the HOSI members. Thus, the Salzburg CSD is one of the very few Pride events that can take place this year.

Pride Warm-up on Friday evening

The weekend starts on Friday evening with parties at the HOSI Bar (drag queen bingo with Gigi LaPajette), the Mexxx (queer party) and the Dark Eagle (come-together of the fetish scene).

„Let‘s get Loud“

On Saturday, the parade begins at 5 p.m. at the main train station and passes Mirabell Palace with an intermediate rally. It continues to the Staatsbrücke, where the Schwuhplattler from Munich will enrich the demo. At Alter Markt, in the heart of Salzburg’s historic old town, the final rally will conclude with sound, light&fog, contributions from politicians and celebrities, and a live link to Sydney to the Worldpride 2023 preparation team. The premiere here is that the HOSI in the 40th year of its existence can show visibility again in the historic center of Salzburg after many years. In all the previous years, the parade always led to the somewhat remote ARGEkultur. This year, for the first time, the Rainbow will be part of the famous Old Town backdrop, surrounded by the Cathedral, the Residence, Mozartplatz and looking up to the Fortress, the city’s landmark.

Because of Corona, the applicable hygiene regulations will of course be observed (see also Pride with mask). Therefore, there will also be no big closing party on Saturday evening at the ARGEkultur. Instead, at least five Salzburg scene stores will be there for the visitors. In Mexxx, Dark Eagle, Fungos, Jacky O Club and of course in the HOSI Bar you will be able to experience an international mix of guests like rarely before. And since it’s summer, the Rosenhügel in Mirabellgarten could also become a meeting place. There, the first rainbow park bench in Salzburg will be set up next Saturday (8.08.).

On Sunday there will be a CSD-Breakfast at the Café am Kai. Located directly on the Salzach, you can admire the magnificent scenery of Salzburg while having breakfast in the guest garden.

The ingredients for an event of the extra class with political message and joy in diversity let expect an exciting weekend in Salzburg. You can find the latest information in the Salzburg Pride Update. See you in Salzburg in September!
