We Rise by Lifting Others

Marinella Senatore (*1977) is a central figure in Italian contemporary art who uses various media to develop artistic strategies to set processes of social change in motion. Senatore is exhibiting at the Museum der Moderne Salzburg until 8.10.2023. And it will also initiate processes of change on 24.06 with a parade through Salzburg. Gendering in Africa

From 22 October, the Museum der Moderne Salzburg is showing the first comprehensive solo exhibition by African photographer Samuel Fosso. Fosso knows how to document gender-crossing roles and clichés in self-portraits that are of personal and political significance and playfully cross attributions of gender, ethnic origin and social class. [Read more]

Filth and trash

Filth and trash are terms for so-called gutter literature, which was widespread from the beginning of the 20th century and in which crimes and vices were published. These booklets were usually traded under the counter. The Museum der Moderne Salzburg is showing examples by Oskar Kokoschka and Käthe Kollwitz, among others, until 4 September. [Read more]
