…and I invite you into this magical world!

sings actor Christoph Wieschke in the trailer for the Salzburg Landestheater’s new production of Shakespeare in the Park – Elves and Errors. The whole world is a stage – and the park of Leopoldskron Castle is undoubtedly one of its most beautiful. Here Shakespeare’s most exciting characters are driven out of the harsh civilization into nature to come to terms with the jungle of emotions.

In Shakespeare in the Park, Orlando, drunk with love, paves the forest with love poems. The fairy king Oberon plays wicked games between trees and bushes. Air and forest spirits confuse lost lovers and sincere feelings collide with evil jokes and supernatural magic.

In “Elves and Errors,” Landestheater director Carl Philip von Maldeghem has characters from Shakespeare’s most beautiful works meet in sometimes unexpected new constellations. Scenes from “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” “The Tempest” and “As You Like It” evoke love, sorrow and lust. They combine to create a play from Shakespeare’s pen that he did not write himself.

Homecoming to the I” is the motto of the new 2020/21 season of the Salzburg Landestheater. This motto was set long before Corona and is experiencing unexpected topicality due to the current Corona crisis. The season starts on August 8 with “All you need is…”, the solo program of Sophie Meran. “All You Need Is...?” is a musical declaration of love to life in all its diversity! An approach that is reflected in many ways in the program of the new season of the Salzburg Landestheater.
