20000 species of bees

Queer film evening: Spanish feature film about the complexity of gender identity.
Cocó is eight years old and doesn’t understand why everyone calls her by her birth name, Aitor. The nickname Cocó doesn’t feel quite so clearly wrong, but it doesn’t feel right either. On a summer holiday in the Basque country, the child confides her grief to relatives and friends. But how does a mother, who herself is still struggling with ambivalent parental baggage, deal with her child’s search for identity?
The feature film debut of Basque director Estibaliz Urresola Solaguren is a sunny, wonderfully sensitive work, carried by Sofía Otero, who appears in front of the camera for the first time as a little girl in search of the right name, and Patricia López Arnaiz as the problem-ridden, loving mother.
