Every year around 24 September, the Rupertikirtag takes place around Salzburg Cathedral in honour of St. Rupert.
Rupertikirtag is celebrated in the tradition of a cathedral fair. For more than 40 years, around the name day of St. Rupert, the squares around Salzburg Cathedral have been transformed for five days into a stage for lively customs, folk and brass music, typical delicacies and historical rides such as the ghost train or the chain carousel. The Rupertikirtag is best visited in lederhosen and dirndl.
