Easter Festival 2024

Please note: This event is in the past.

The 2024 Salzburg Easter Festival is inspired by the Italian way of life. And continue the young tradition of dance and electronic music in the programme.

In 2024, the Salzburg Easter Festival takes us to Italy. Chief conductor Sir Antonio Pappano will perform with the Orchestra dell’ Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia a new production of Amilcare Ponchielli’s opera “La Gioconda”, with Anna Netrebko and Jonas Kaufmann singing the main roles.

The programme also includes orchestral concerts that take a look at Italy from the perspective of Italian and non-Italian composers, including Giuseppe Verdi’s “Messa da Requiem” and two recitals.

The new company founded in 2023 dance and electro division will be continued. On Friday, 22 March 2024, the Felsenreitschule will host the world premiere of Johann Sebastian Bach’s St. John Passion choreographed by Sasha Waltz. Sasha Waltz is an award-winning choreographer, dancer and opera director.

Also performing at the Felsenreitschule will be the internationally acclaimed British DJ Max Cooper the sounds of Italy meet electronic beats. For the Salzburg Easter Festival, the Brit was inspired by Italy and the sound of the south with “Seme” and presents one of his live performances that has been acclaimed by audiences and the press. Max Cooper will be supported by soprano Sarah Aristidou and cellist Niels Orens.

In 2024, the Easter Festival aims to live up to the standards set by Herbert von Karajan. Click here for the complete Program and tickets
