Rupertikirtag 2024

The traditional Ruperti cathedral consecration festival – the Rupertikirtag 2024

In September, the traditional Ruperti Cathedral Consecration Festival takes place in the squares around Salzburg Cathedral – from 20 to 24 September for the 46th time. The name day of Salzburg’s patron saint Rupert is celebrated on the days around 24 September. St Rupert of Salzburg was the first bishop of Salzburg and abbot of St Peter’s Abbey.

For five days, the Old Market, Residenzplatz, Domplatz, Kapitelplatz and Mozartplatz are characterised by medieval craft markets, festival tents, merry-go-rounds, living customs from town and country, folk music, stalls and beer tents. The tradition of Rupertikirtag dates back to the 14th century and is a spectacle that enjoys great popularity among locals and visitors to the town. Rupertikirtag 2024.
