The hill of roses

I often accompany my guests to the salt mine in Hallein. The train entrance, the crossing of the salt lake and the fast long slides are adventurous. A visit to the Celtic village and museum takes you back 5500 years. There you learn about salt mining in the time of the Celts until today and also about the interesting story of the young prince archbishop Wolf Dietrich von Raitenau from Salzburg. He had 15 children with the beautiful Salome – despite celibacy! And without him there would be no Rosenhügel today, the world’s most beautiful cruising garden in the middle of Salzburg.
