From 11 to 14 April 2024, Kaprun will be under the rainbow. The 5th Skipride will take place on the slopes of the highest ski resort in the province of Salzburg at the foot of the Kitzsteinhorn.

“It’s all in the mix,” says 41-year-old Silvio R. from Berlin about his two previous skipride experiences. Silvio was in Kaprun with his partner in 2019 and 2023. “You meet lots of Germans, Austrians and men from all the neighbouring countries such as Italy, the Netherlands and Poland. This year, one even travelled all the way from South Africa,” says Silvio. An international audience of around 200 guests who appreciate the scenic charms of the Kitzsteinhorn, the winter sports on offer in Kaprun and the international flair of this event.

A holiday between glacier, mountain and lake is how the municipality of Zell am See-Kaprun advertises itself. In winter, both pros and beginners will find their slopes here. The Kitzsteinhorn glacier offers challenging off-piste runs for freeriders.

On the piste is before après ski

The Skipride Kaprun is of course embedded in a great supporting programme. Guests are accommodated in one of five hotels in 2024, with the “24 by Avenida” hotel acting as home base. After a day on the piste or in the village, everyone meets up for après-ski followed by a rainbow dinner. Every evening in a different hotel, where the meal turns into a party. Welcome party, “Bitsch&Glitter”, main party, sauna after-show party. Plenty of opportunities for good food, pleasant company and partying in great surroundings. And “with a high flrt factor” according to Silvio.

“What I also like about the Skipride is the timing. It’s already spring in Zell am See in mid-April and it’s winter up on the glacier. It’s fantastic,” says Silvio. Zell am See is also home to the Tauern Spa. The 20,000 m² SPA water and sauna world has 12 pools and 10 saunas and steam baths, among other things, and is easy to plan in. “Not everyone necessarily just wants to go to the slopes,” says Silvio. It’s easy to squeeze in a day of relaxation. “The artists, DJs and drag queens are there all the time. It’s really very informal. It’s like going on a family holiday,” says Silvio, who is already looking forward to his next ski ride.

You can get to Kaprun by train via Munich and Salzburg. The nearest airport by plane is Salzburg. Kaprun and Zell am See are 15 minutes away from each other by bus. (pege)
