Salzburg before Christmas
In the remaining weeks until the festive season, there is not only a musical premiere in Salzburg, the city’s queer scene also offers a constant stream of events. Here are some suggestions of what you can experience in the city of Mozart over the coming weekends until the festive season.
On Friday 1.12., women from Salzburg and the surrounding area meet for their last Ladies’ Night of the year at HOSI Salzburg. On Saturday 2.12., “Singin’ in the Rain” premieres at the Salzburg State Theatre. “Singin’ in the Rain” is a declaration of love to the musical. The film adaptation is still one of the top 10 films of all time. Until May 2024 at the Salzburg State Theatre.
After the premiere, you could go to the HOSI-Fest. With two dance floors, it’s the perfect Saturday night. And on Sunday 3 December at 1 pm, you can do something for your own education – on the queer city tour with Roman Forisch, including a visit to the Salzburg Christmas market.
The following weekend (9/10.12.) there will be the first Christmas baking workshop at Olina on Saturday. Uli Helminger will introduce us to the secrets of Christmas baking, we will certainly learn a lot and probably go home a little tipsy. Or something like that 😉
Instead of going home, we could also go to the HOSI Salzburg. There’s an art market there on Saturday afternoon. Maybe you still need a Christmas present? The Mexxx and the Dark Eagle are then responsible for all sorts of things afterwards.
The weekend 16./17.12. begins on Thursday 14.12.. Lili – The Danish Girl is on the programme at the Salzburg State Theatre for the last time for the time being. From 5pm to 11pm, however, there is also the Queer Short Film Festival at the Mark Cultural Centre. On Friday 15.12., Gernot and Herwig invite you to a pre-Christmas fetish evening at HOSI Salzburg. At the same time, the Magic Garage celebrates its Christmas show in the Narrencastl.
On Saturday 16 December, the second edition of the Christmas bakery at Olina will take place during the day. In the evening, the Magic Garage will be performing its second Christmas show in the Narrencastl. At the same time, Wolfgang celebrates the 8th birthday of the Dark Eagle while David plays sexy Christmas in pink with Mexxx-Mas at Mexxx. And for all those looking to relax after these turbulent days, head to the Dark Eagle on Sunday 17.12. for Sexy Sunday Afternoon.
Because the holidays are just around the corner on the following Sunday. Until then, there is still the queer film evening on Tuesday 19.12. with To the End of the Night, a melodramatic urban thriller. From Thursday 21.12. to Saturday 23.12., HOSI Salzburg will be at the Christmas market on the Alter Markt with its punch stall.
Drinking mulled wine for a good cause is the motto. And try the biscuits baked by Olina a week or two earlier in return for a donation. And then the festive season begins. The Dark Eagle has regular opening hours until the end of the year (Wednesdays to Saturdays). And Mexxx is also open every day on public holidays, so there’s a place to go for the hours afterwards.
