eat&meet 2024 – Culinary exoticism in Salzburg

Rice from Lower Austria, turmeric from Styria or shiitake mushrooms from Salzburg. The eat&meet Culinary Festival is entering its 15th round this year and is focussing on exotic foods and dishes. Almost everything from regional production.

Under the motto “Because the faraway grows so close”, the organisers of the “Festival for the Palate” show that exotic ingredients can now be grown locally and conjured up into exquisite dishes. The talented chefs create something new in their kitchens, sending flavours on an exciting journey to faraway places with regionally grown exotic ingredients. Here, the local public is brought together with the producers of regional culinary rarities and local restaurateurs, and strangers become friends.

A programme as varied as the palate

With 60 different events, the Culinary Festival invites curious flavour explorers to get to know the culinary side of iconic Salzburg from a completely new perspective. For the festival, the traditional Fisch Krieg company, well known to many Salzburgers and beyond, will be transformed into a sushi-ya, where SeeSushi mastermind Dominik Edlinger will familiarise interested guests with local freshwater sushi from Lake Wolfgang. Host Dominik Krieg will also be serving all kinds of fish specialities from his traditional organic fish farm.

Michael Sporer from Sporer Likör- und Punchmanufaktur is creating a completely new coffee liqueur in collaboration with the Macheiner family from 220 Grad Cafe und Rösterei, which can be tasted at three events. Entertainment will be provided by the Cooking Experience Show, which will delight interested guests in the St Peter Stiftkulinarium.

This year’s eat&meet festival offers all visitors a colourful and, above all, innovative menu of events that combine taste with the faraway made in Austria. Anyone who appreciates delicious food and wants to be inspired to create new recipes has an exotic source of inspiration with this colourful range of options. (fn)
