Pride Week Salzburg

This will be the Salzburg Pride 2022

This year, Pride Weekend Salzburg will become Pride Week Salzburg. A week full of programmes for the visibility of the rainbow in the city on the Salzach. This will be the Salzburg Pride 2022.

From Monday 29 August to Sunday 4 September, Salzburg will once again be under the sign of the rainbow. After the last two successful years with increasing numbers of participants, this year there will be a whole Pride Week with 29 events on queer themes. A number of cultural institutions in the city, such as the Salzburg Museum and the Salzburg State Theatre, will also be taking part. And the city’s gastronomic scene, beyond the scene bars, also honours the concerns of the LGBT community with its own events.

On Monday 29.08. queer knowledge is in demand. At the quiz in the Academy Bar, Cornelia and Phil will ask questions on queer topics from 7 pm. The prizes are good humour and a cool evening at the theatre bar in the Andräviertel.

On Tuesday 30 08, it’s one after the other: in the workshop “Hero’s Journey” from 9 am to 12 pm, examples of superheroes who were role models and role patterns in dramas and films and their possible significance for one’s own self-perception will be explained. At 1 pm, a diversity workshop is on the programme for all those who are professionally involved with gender diversity. Diversity management is now an important success factor and part of the corporate culture in many large companies. At 3 pm there will be a walk (empowerment workshop) through nature – in the city of Salzburg. “Reconnect – In touch with our nature”. At 5pm, the Pride Night Kitchen Club gets underway. Cooking and eating together. And from 8 pm, the question is who will be the most convincing at the Queer Karaoke Night on the stage of the Narrencastl in Salzburg-Lehen.

On Wednesday 31.08. it gets cultural – of course, neatly coiffed. No one has conjured up as many queer hairstyles as Trixi from the Social Hair Workshop at the MARK Cultural Centre. From 9 am to 12 pm, Trixi goes back to work. The perfect preparation for good visibility at the Pride. From 1 pm, theatre professionals from the Salzburg State Theatre will work with participants on a performance of poetry on stage at “Posing or Poetry”, which will then be performed in the evening at 7 pm. If you think you have potential, don’t miss this opportunity. At 7 pm, the live talk with experts on the topic of STI, Prep, Chemsex & Co will start at the Dark Eagle. Michael Meilinger, MD and Birgit Leichsenring from the Chemsex Network Vienna will answer questions on all these topics in the live stream.

Thursday 1.09. Getting your own event technically on a secure footing will be explained in the four-hour workshop “Event Technology Essentials” from 9 am. For example, the most important basics of sound technology in the live area. The songwriting workshop from 1 pm. will also be musical. Translating stories into songs can be useful for well-being. Anyone who is unfamiliar with this can learn it here. At 5 p.m. Kay-Michael Dankl from the Salzburg Museum will present the queer thread in the history of Salzburg and the Salzburg Museum. And at 8 pm “Das Kino” on the Giselakai will host a “Queer Film Evening”. The chosen film will be announced later. The after-cinema party is a few doors down at Bricks.

Friday (2.09.) starts at 9 am with a Weißwurst breakfast in “Die Schnauze”. White sausage and pretzels as breakfast at the beginning of the Pride weekend – Schatzi says hello. From 6 pm you can stock up on Rainbow utensils for the weekend or as a souvenir at the Rainbowmarket in the HOSI Salzburg. From 8 pm there will be a new Drag Bingo with Gigi LaPajette and from 9 p.m. the Dark Eagle and the Mexxx are expecting guests from all over.

Saturday (3.09.) starts at 11 am with a workshop on gentle body movement. “My current practice focuses on the intersection of theatre and social activism, with a particular focus on LGBTQIA+ communities.” says Cat Jugravu in her self-description. With movement being the focus for the rest of the day, some loosening up exercises can’t hurt. You can get in the mood for the parade from 11 am at the recently opened vegetarian Furo Salzburg in Lasser Straße. “Drinks & snacks” is the motto. The day needs a foundation for the stomach. Plus music from the DJ. From there you can groove on in 10 minutes to the main station, where the parade starts. At 12 noon, Roman Forisch will start the “Queer City Tour“. From 4 pm, the participants of the big Pride parade will gather. As usual, the parade will start at 5 pm in front of the main station in Salzburg. The parade will then move through the Andräviertel district over the Staatsbrücke to the Nonntal University, right next to the ARGE Kultur, where the Pride Night will also take place. New: there will be a separate leather and fetish area in the basement. DJ Ambjörn Söderberg from Oslo, who was himself Mr Norway 2021, will be playing here. There will also be an outdoor area at the ARGE with DJ ZE613Hx until 10 pm, and Drag Queen Ginger Red from Vienna will play in the hall. The Pride after-parties will take place at Dark Eagle and Mexxx Gaybar.

On Sunday (4.09.) there will be breakfast at the Café am Kai from 9 am at the Pride Week Breakfast. Rainbow flags will once again be flying in the garden on the Salzach. And new this year: From 1 pm it’s “s’Schatzi räumt zusammen!”. In keeping with the motto of this year’s Pride “Be visible Schatzi!“, the HOSI Salzburg is organising a clean-up at the places in the city where people celebrated the day before.

An attractive and ambitious programme for this year’s Salzburg Pride. A programme that would suit many a much larger city. So let’s look forward to Salzburg at it’s best from 29 August to 4 September.

This will be the Salzburg Pride 2022! Information on individual events, such as the venue, cost contribution, etc. can be found at the organisers. The arte Hotel Salzburg is the official Pride hotel this year. With a code there is a discount on the respective room category.
